Caring for Chico (my baby)

I adopted Chico back in April 2020, and he’s been my little shadow ever since. From daily walks around our Las Vegas neighborhood to regular outings at the dog park, I’ve dedicated myself to making sure he feels safe, happy, and well-cared-for. Because he’s naturally shy and wasn’t socialized much before I got him, I’ve learned to be patient, adaptable, and creative in finding ways to keep him active—like exploring local hiking trails or planning quiet, low-key outings where he can enjoy the outdoors without feeling overwhelmed.

Caring for Chico has taught me the importance of consistent routines, gentle guidance, and genuine love, which I bring to every home and pet I look after. Here’s how I ensure Chico (and all pets under my care) thrive.

December 18, 2024 - January 2, 2025.

Caring for Aaron’s Home, Lou-E, and Oliver (Las Vegas, NV)

Over the holidays, Aaron needed someone he could trust to look after his Las Vegas home and his two active dogs, Lou-E and Oliver, for two weeks while he traveled out of the country. From our first conversation, we knew it was the perfect fit. I moved right in, quickly bonding with Lou-E and Oliver and keeping Aaron updated every step of the way with photos, videos, and messages so he could enjoy his trip worry-free.

By the time Aaron returned, both pups were as happy and healthy as ever, and the house was just as clean and organized as when he left. Giving Aaron the peace of mind to truly relax on his first real vacation in over a year—and showering Lou-E and Oliver with all the attention and care they deserved—made this an unforgettable holiday experience for all of us.

What I Did:

  • Stayed In-Home for the entire two-week period, ensuring around-the-clock companionship.
  • Fed Lou-E and Oliver Twice Daily, keeping their routine consistent and stress-free.
  • Provided Ample Exercise with daily 60-minute walks (morning & evening), plus visits to the nearby park.
  • Shared Regular Updates through texts, photos, and videos, giving Aaron peace of mind.
  • Maintained a Clean, Cozy Home by following all house-care instructions, including trash removal and basic tidying.
  • Handled Last-Minute Preparations by visiting the night before Aaron’s departure to finalize details and expectations.

House & Dog Sitting for Miriam (Las Vegas, NV)

I had the pleasure of caring for Miriam’s cozy home and her beloved pup, Coaster, while she was away celebrating her birthday. Introduced through the Trusted House Sitters app, I met Miriam for a home tour and immediately felt welcomed by both her and Coaster.

Over the four-day stay, I made sure Coaster was well taken care of—providing 2–3 daily walks, regular meals, and plenty of cuddles and playtime. When Miriam’s flight was unexpectedly delayed, I happily extended my stay to ensure Coaster wouldn’t be left alone. It was a joy to look after such a sweet, loving dog in a warm, comfortable home, and I’d gladly do it again!

House & Dog Sitting for Jennifer (Washington, DC)

Caring for Wilber and staying in Jennifer’s home was an absolute joy! From the moment I arrived, Wilber greeted me with excited hugs and kisses, immediately making me feel at home. He’s a bundle of energy at first, but once he gets his zoomies out, he settles into the sweetest, most affectionate companion who loves belly rubs and snuggles. Throughout my stay, we established a great routine—daily walks, playtime, and plenty of lounging together. Wilber is also a little watchdog, keeping a keen eye on the house and announcing the arrival of the mailman, but otherwise, he was incredibly calm and easygoing.

We explored the neighborhood every day, and I highly recommend taking Wilber to The Fields at RFK Campus, a fantastic park with tons of trails and open space where he loved stretching his legs. Jennifer’s home was in a great location, making it easy to get around D.C., and the neighborhood itself was safe and welcoming. At home, I made sure to follow Jennifer’s guidance on keeping Wilber at a safe distance from other dogs on walks since he can be reactive—not out of aggression, but sheer excitement! With gentle guidance and redirection, our walks were smooth, and he quickly followed my lead. Jennifer’s home was clean, cozy, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I had such an amazing experience caring for Wilber, and I truly hope to sit for him again—maybe when the weather is a little warmer!

House & Dog Sitting for Josh + Megan (San Francisco, CA)

Caring for Chance in San Francisco was an absolute blast! Josh and Megan’s beautiful home in the Richmond District, just a block north of Golden Gate Park, made for the perfect stay. Chance and I took multiple walks a day, exploring different areas of the park, and he loved every second of it. He’s a fun, affectionate pup who adores belly rubs and cuddles. He can be a bit reactive to some dogs on walks, but with a firm hold on the leash and careful redirection, we had smooth and enjoyable outings together.

Josh and Megan were incredibly sweet, compassionate, and welcoming—I felt right at home from the start. They even trusted me enough to use one of their vehicles to explore the city, which I really appreciated! I made sure to take great care of their car, filling it up with gas before heading out after the sit. At home, I followed all their instructions, especially keeping all doors closed, including the kitchen, whenever I left for a few hours (because Chance is definitely a sneaky counter surfer!). Overall, Chance was an amazing dog to care for, and I’d gladly sit for him again anytime!

HOUSE & PET SITTER

Loving & Responsible Sitter

My name is Alan Cruz, and I’m a 24-year-old traveler, hiker, nature enthusiast, and adventurer who also happens to be a proud dog dad to Chico Cruz, my four-year-old Pitbull terrier mix. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV, but my career in content marketing and media allows me to work remotely and explore new places whenever the opportunity arises. This constant love for travel—and meeting new people and pets along the way—is what inspired me to start house and pet sitting.

With 5+ years of pet/house sitting experience, I've always loved taken care of animals and homes since 2020. My mom raised me to be organized, clean, and treat other people's spaces as if it were my own. In fact, I used to help senior folks in my community by working part-time as a house cleaner, making sure their homes stayed tidy and clean when they couldn’t do it themselves. So, naturally, looking after other people’s spaces became nature to me.

I believe the best house and pet sitting experiences come from trust, open communication, and a shared love for animals. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me, and I look forward to the possibility of caring for your home and pets so you can enjoy your next trip without any worries!

FAQs

  • What areas do you serve?

I’m based in Las Vegas, NV, but I’m happy to travel for house and pet sitting—even out of state or out of the country—since my work is fully remote. If you’d like me to travel to your city, state, or country, let’s have a one-on-one conversation about the details.

  • What is your experience with different types of pets?

My primary experience is with dogs, but I’m open to caring for cats, reptiles, or other small animals as well. I’ve learned to administer medication to my own dog, Chico, and I’m more than happy to discuss any special needs your pet might have. I truly love all animals and learn quickly if there’s something I’m unfamiliar with.

  • Do you offer overnight stays, drop-in visits, or both?

I offer both! Depending on your preference, I can stay in your home for overnight supervision, multiple days or weeks, or I can drop in as needed throughout the day to check on your pet(s), handle feedings, walks, or any other requested tasks.

  • How often will I receive updates while you’re pet and house sitting?

I can send daily or weekly texts, photos, and videos—whatever schedule works best for you. I’m also open to FaceTime or video calls if you’d like more frequent check-ins and updates on how your pets are doing.

  • Will you bring your own dog when you pet sit?

No. Chico stays at my family home in Las Vegas, where he’s cared for by my family members. He’s a shy, anxious dog around unfamiliar environments, so he does not travel with me.

  • Can you provide references or testimonials?

Absolutely! If you’d like to speak with a past client, you may contact Aaron P. at 818-599-7950. I cared for Aaron’s home and his two pups, Lou-E and Oliver, from December 18, 2024, to January 2, 2025.

  • Can we schedule a meet-and-greet

Definitely. If we’re in the same city, I’d love to meet you and your pets in person. Otherwise, I’m happy to schedule a video call to answer any questions, address any concerns, and ensure I’m the right fit for your home and animals.
